Oreck Vacuums are Gaining Popularity
There are a lot of vacuum cleaners out there today, and Oreck is one of the most popular brands. This was not always the case, however, because the Oreck brand was virtually unheard of only a few years ago. Originally, that brand of vacuum cleaner was designed for the hotel industry, because the vacuums that the maids and cleaners were using were very large and heavy. These cleaners had to be strong, because they were used so often by so many different people. They took a lot of abuse, and they were almost always on the job. This set them apart from vacuums that were used in homes, where people did not work them nearly as hard. The home cleaning machines were generally smaller and lighter than the professional ones, but they still had a lot of weight to them because of the size of the motor required to keep the suction strong enough to properly clean carpets. This was especially true if there were children or pets in the house, and hotel rooms came to expect these kinds of messes, as well.
One man, David Oreck, saw a way to make a better vacuum cleaner that would be strong and have good suction, but yet would also be very lightweight and easy to use. This was a great idea with one problem ? no one wanted to use it because they did not see how it was possible to offer such astounding suction power in a machine that only weighed about eight pounds. Eventually, however, a couple of hotels tried his cleaner, and they found that it worked much better than they thought that it would. There was a lot of strength to the small and light motor that he had designed, and the vacuum worked as well as if not better than the larger and heavier machines. Maids loved the vacuum, because it could easily be carried up stairs. It made their job easier and more enjoyable, and it also made the job go faster, allowing them to clean more rooms in a shorter period of time and go on to something else.
That was not enough for David Oreck, however, who wanted everyone to try his vacuum. He started advertising on television and in magazines to get housewives to give his lightweight vacuum a chance. He even offered to buy it back if they did not like it, and if they did not think that it worked better and was easier to handle than the heavy vacuum that they were using now. Slowly, people started taking a chance on it, and most of them loved it. They liked the weight, the ease of use, and the fact that the vacuum was still strong and powerful. It did cost a bit more than the brands that could be bought at the local retail chain stores, but not as much as some of the more expensive ? and much heavier ? cleaners put out by other companies. Overall, the Oreck was seen to be a great choice and the popularity of it only continues to grow stronger today.
